Registration of a thesis (B.Sc., Biology / Biotechnology)
Before starting work on your bachelor thesis, apply for registration of the project-oriented methods internship at the examination board via the paperless application system. If you want to write your thesis externally, this must be applied for before you start the methods internship. Once the methods internship has been successfully applied for and approved, you can begin the work. You will clarify the exact work to be done in order to complete the methods internship with the assessor supervising you.
After downloading and digitally completing the form to register your work, submit it to the Central Examination Office (ZPA) via Email, where you will be certified as formally eligible to complete the work. You will then obtain the signatures of your two assessors. You then submit an application for registration of your thesis to the examination board via the paperless application system. There you will upload the form. Your processing time runs from the end of your methods internship. The registration of your thesis will appear a few weeks later in RWTHonline as registration. You will automatically receive the submission date via the system.
Registration of a thesis (M.Sc., Biology / Biotechnology / Ecotoxicology)
After you have downloaded and digitally filled out the form to register your thesis, submit it to the Central Examination Office (ZPA) via Email, where you will be certified as formally authorized to write the thesis. There you will upload the form. You will be notified of the issue date, as well as the submission deadline, when you submit the application.
Application for extension of the deadline of a thesis (B.Sc., M.Sc., Biology / Biotechnology / Ecotoxicology)
Submit requests for thesis extensions through the paperless application system. Please include sufficient evidence with your request to support the justification you provide (medical reports, report on repair of an instrument, etc.). Note that an extension is not granted lightly and a short-term cold or similar, are not grounds for an extension. Please allow sufficient time for processing. You should have submitted the application at least 3 weeks before the deadline for any follow-up questions. Approved extension requests are automatically sent to the Central Examination Office.

Submission of a thesis (all courses of study except teachers program)
After completion of the thesis, you submit it digitally via RWTHonline, as regulated in your subject-specific examination regulations. Afterwards, you do not need to worry about sending it to examiners or similar.
