Auflagenprüfung Promotion: E-Test
As part of the procedure for admission to doctoral studies at our faculty, you can be requested to proof your general knowledge in biology and biotechnology by means of a digital examination (so-called e-test). This occurs especially when you obtained a Master’s diploma in any discipline other than Biology, Molecular and Applied Biotechnology, or Ecotoxicology. After you registered yourself as doctoral student at the Office for Doctoral Studies, you will receive a confirmation letter by the dean in which it is specified if an e-test is part of your admission requirements. You are allowed to commence your doctoral research project also when you are requested to perform the e-test, however, you must pass the test within the given deadline by the doctoral office.
How to register for the e-test:
E-tests are offered four times per year. You can register for this test at any time by sending an email to Dr. Helen Rosenkranz (firstname.lastname@example.org) including a PDF-copy of your confirmation letter by the Dean and your student id number (Matrikelnummer) and RWTH-ID (TIM-Kennung) (format: ab123456). Once your registration is received you will be informed about the time and place for the next e-test.
Coming up e-test dates ( proctored remote exams (take-home exams) via Zoom) :

There is no limitation to the number of attempts, except the given deadline by the doctoral office. After you have passed the test, the Office for Doctoral Studies will be informed that you fulfilled this part of the registration requirements.
How to prepare for your e-test:

In case you prefer to prepare yourself for the e-test, you can find information on the topics that are covered by the e-test in any general text-book on biology, such as:
“Campbell Biology” by Reece, Urry, Cain, Wasserman, Minorsky and Jackson, Pearson Publishing Company. Which you can also find in the RWTH Library.
